United Way Fresno and Madera Counties provides FREE tax preparations to low- and moderate-income individuals, families, and seniors. Tax returns are prepared by trained and IRS Certified volunteers at local community organizations. This season, our Free Tax Preparation (VITA) program has returned over $11 million back into the hands of the valley's working class. This money has the potential to help families get ahead and with our help, put them on a path to self-sufficiency.

California Earned Income Tax Credit (CALEITC)
CalEITC is a cash back credit that puts money back into the pockets of California's working families and individuals. The purpose of this credit is to supplement the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
United Ways across California have partnered with CalEITC4ME in order to help hardworking Californians receive the tax credit they may qualify for. This tax season, CalEITC will be available to approximately 1.7 million eligible families.
The CalEITC4ME is a statewide outreach campaign to encourage low-income individuals, families, and seniors to claim the newly passed state income tax credit. In addition to a targeted outreach effort designed to reach previous and new taxpayers through trusted community partners, CalEITC4ME is embarking on an effort to increase awareness and availability for free tax preparation.
